Arthropods in Baltic Amber
by Jens-Wilhelm Janzen
The book is written bilingually in English and German.
Its dimensions are 21cm x 23cm, it contains 168 pages, it is printed on high-quality papers and it is hardbound.
The books aim is to give the reader the classification of his inclusions in the upper taxonomy of arthropods, in particular to faciliate the orders of insects.
Illustated keys, short characterizations , with 76 instructive illustrations , representing all of the occuring articulate orders in Baltic Amber lead to tables with more than 300 colour photo plates usually in the dimension 9,6cm x 7,6cm . Around 200 families of arthropods are illustrated.
Special room has been offered in the book for the "large orders". There are alone 45 families of Coleoptera, 40 families of Hymenoptera and 33 families of Diptera that are illustrated.
Many of the colour photos that were taken with a Wild macroscope and digital camera were additional worked on with the help of a computer from piles of pictures. Their sharpness and brilliance are largely due to modern feasibility and have nothing to be ashamed of in comparision with the formerly published photographs of amber inclusions.
